In Tambul, Sudan on Sunday many people waited for the foreign delicacy of camel liver. Not a very acquired taste to us Canadians, but in the Arab world a traditional morning breakfast. As the camel is slaughtered at dawn the butcher goes hard to work to prepare the camel liver at its freshest to awaiting customers. Eaten raw with possible dressings such as lemon juice and peanut oil, this interesting take on a feast fit for kings has been said by locals to “give them more energy.” As some locals like their liver literally right out of the camel, blood and all, all can agree that this meal is very interesting to say the least. I personally think this delicacy is a bit strange, but I’m sure people have eaten worse. And hey I can’t knock it until I try it... although I’m hoping never to try it. I think this affects Canadians because we can learn a lot from foreign recipes to spice up our food industry, maybe not this meal in particular but it still is an intriguing idea. Canada and the media both don’t seem to favour a side in this article but I’m sure the topic is interesting enough for both Canada and our media to discuss.
