In Chilliwack last week a 15 year old girl was sexually assaulted by a 32 year old man. The man is now in custody and had allegedly been inviting young teens to his house for a party where he supplied them with alcohol. The police believe the man had been luring young teens on facebook. The victim involved had passed out on the couch when sexually assaulted me the man. I personally believe that teenagers these days shouldn’t be so naive and think that people they don’t know, especially on sites such as facebook, are trustworthy and their friend. This issue affects Canadians because we have to bring awareness to internet safety and realize that we need to talk to youth about such issues. Canada and the media seem to favour the victims side which is understandable but they do also agree that parents should speak to kids before they start using websites such as facebook to ensure that their child is being responsible and smart.
